Kara MacKinnon

Sport

Women's soccer

Why did you choose to come to CBU?

I always wanted to be a CAPER ever since I was a little kid. Also, it was much less expensive to come to CBU rather than another university.

What is your pre-game routine and how long have you been doing it?

I don't particularly have a pre-game routine other than whatever the coach asks me to do.

What do you do in your free time?

I study, run, kick boxing class and binge watch television.

Who’s your favourite professional athlete and why?

I don't have one. Any female professional athlete is an inspiration.

What is your best memory from playing your sport?

Winning (2013) AUS (championship) obviously.

If you weren’t playing this sport, what would you be doing and why?

I would be studying, working and having more of a social life. Because if I wasn't playing soccer I would be much more focused on school. I would have time to make some extra money and lastly, for fun!

When did you start playing your sport? How did you get started?

I started playing when I was about six I think. I started with Timbits soccer & then came to the CAPERS soccer camps (we should get them going again).

What is your favourite place to eat and why?

I’d say Swiss Chalet because there's so many options for "home cooked" meals and it isn't too pricey!

Where would you go for your dream vacation and why?

I would pick Disney World (I'm still a child at heart). I would choose it because I love the heat and there is nothing more thrilling than a roller coaster and I've never been one to just relax.

How did playing varsity sports improve your university experience?

It improved my university experience because of all of the wonderful people I met, the experiences I've had with them and it has kept me in shape.
