Abot to Join CBU CAPERS on the Court Next Season
The CBU CAPERS women's basketball program is excited to announce that Ajah Abot will be joining the team in the 2026-2027 season.
A 6'1" forward from Brooks, Alberta, Ajah joins us from Western Canada Prep Academy/Brooks Composite High School. She plans to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology while attending Cape Breton University.
When asked why she chose CBU for her athletic and academic journey, Ajah replied, "I chose CBU because compared to a lot of the other schools I've talked to, their program really stood out to me the most."
"One thing that really finalized my decision was a conversation I had with the coach," Ajah added. "This conversation showed me how he considers the team his family and that he is always going to be there for his players even when they leave. That really touched me and showed me that there's so much more than basketball over there."
"Another thing that stood out to me was how easy it was for me to get to know the team and fit in with them, which also made my decision so much easier."
Head Coach Fabian McKenzie is excited to add Ajah to the roster. "She adds great length and athleticism to our lineup and will immediately bolster our defense and rebounding," stated McKenzie. "Ajah also has a nice offensive skill package including an ability to shoot from the perimeter. She has a strong desire to improve and a very high ceiling which should give her a very bright future with us."
Ajah feels she can help by bringing energy, physicality, and a good work ethic next season. "My size and rebounding are definitely strengths I can see myself using to contribute to the team."
"Overall, CBU just seemed like the right place for me to grow as a basketball player and as a person, both on and off the court."
Welcome to the CAPER family, Ajah! We look forward to seeing you at the end of the summer!
