CAPERS give Panthers a run for their money
The CAPERS put forth a great effort in the match up today with the UPEI Panthers in AUS women's basketball action at the Sullivan Fieldhouse. Despite CBU holding the lead for half of the game, the Panthers pulled off the win.
The teams were back and forth in the first quarter with only a difference of 2 points at the buzzer in favour of the Panthers. The second quarter was much of the same with the CAPERS heading to the locker room with a 4 point lead.
The CAPERS came out strong in the second half and went on a 7-point run to be up by 9 half way through the third. The Panthers slowly crept up and took the lead by 3 at the 30 minute mark. UPEI dominated the fourth quarter and this close ball game ended up in their favour with a final score of 57-47.
Ella Simmons was the player of the game for the Panthers with 13 points, 4 rebounds, one steal and 2 blocks. Amanda Cruickshank was the Subways of CBRM player of the game for CBU with 10 points, 6 reboinds, 1 assist and 3 steals.
Your CAPERS are on the road for the next 2 weekends: StFX on Nov. 14, Nov. 21 at Acadia and Nov. 22 at Dalhousie. You can catch all of these games on AUStv.ca.
