Sydney, NS - The CAPERS won the re-match againt the UPEI Panthers in AUS men's soccer action today at Ness Timmons Field. In the starting half, the CAPERS scored first with a goal from Evan Cunningham in the 26th minute. Three minutes later, Mateo Goldsztein scored to add to the lead. The Panthers had a chance after that, but it was blocked by CAPERS keeper Jack Harrington. Just before the half, the CAPERS upped the score to 3-0 with a goal from Jamie Nicholson assisted by Andre Beecher.
Shortly after the start of the second half, Panther Vardy St-Fleur got one past the CAPERS defence to bring the score to 3-1. The Panthers were outmatched by the CAPERS today with 21 shots compared to 4. The CAPERS added one last goal to the tally at the 73rd minute with a goal from Nickolas Shifrin, assisted by Andre Beecher.
The Panthers are at home next weekend facing off with the X-Men on Friday, September 20 at 7:30 pm. The CAPERS are on the road to Newfoundland for 2 games against the Seahawks on September 21 and 22 with both games starting at 3:30pm.
Soccer action is back at Ness Timmons field on Saturday, September 27 when the CAPERS will take on les Aigles Bleus de l'Université de Moncton. See you then.
