SYDNEY, NS - The CBU CAPERS fell to the MUN Seahawks in Atlantic University Sport men's basketball action on Saturday, January 24 at the Sullivan Fieldhouse.
Both teams started off strong as they exchanged baskets throughout the first quarter. Oroma Bongomin sunk 2 free throws to bring the CAPERS ahead by 2 at the buzzer. The second quarter started in similar fashion until about the 8-minute mark when the CAPERS started to pull ahead by a few more. Mid-way, the CAPERS were up by 12 points then the Seahawks changed gears and started to find the hoop. At the half, the CAPERS were ahead by a score of 42-37.
The Seahawks came out of the lockerroom hot and took the lead at the 5-minute mark of the third. The CAPERS struggled to capitalize on their opportunities and the third quarter ended in favour of the Seahwaks. In the final quarter, the CAPERS got within 5 of the leaders but the Seahawks offence was solid and the game ended in their favour 91-82.
