X-Men take the win in final home game of 2025
Sydney, NS - The X-Men took the win in the final home game of 2025 at the Sullivan Fieldhouse in men's basketball action on Saturday, November 29.
The CAPERS came out in full force tonight against the X-Men leading the first quarter until 7 minutes in when StFX went on a run and finished the quarter up 26-19. In the second quarter, the CAPERS slowly chipped away at the X-Men lead and came within 5 points before StFX pulled away again with the score at 47-38 heading to the lockerroom at the half.
The CAPERS brought their offence in the third quarter bringing the game to a tie 6 minutes in. They then took the lead for the next few minutes but a 3 pointer in the last minute put the X-Men up by 1 at the end of the third. StFX then took a lead that they kept for the duration and took the game with a 86-68 win.
Nicolas Niare led the scoring for the X-Men with 21 points while adding 9 rebounds and a steal. DJ Jackson added 18 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and a block for the winning effort.
Stefan Anisko, the Subways of CBRM Player of the Game, netted the most points in the game with 24 and added 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a block. Aaron Cunningham added 13 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals while Josiah McKnight chipped in with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
The CAPERS will now be on a break for exams and the winter holiday. They will be back in action on the road at UNB on January 9 and 10. AUS basketball action will return to the Sullivan Fieldhouse on January 17 with games at 6 and 8 against the Dalhousie Tigers.
