3 CAPERS among recipients of AUS major Awards & All-Stars
Today, Atlantic University Sport revealed their Women's Basketball Major Award Winners & All-Stars. Among the major awards winners was CBU CAPERS women's basketball player, Kristen Taylor. She was named the official Tracy MacLeod Award Nominee.
The U SPORTS Tracy MacLeod Award recognizes women's basketball players who demonstrate exceptional determination, perseverance, and unwavering spirit. Kristen, a fourth-year Bachelor of Business Administration student, started with the women's basketball team in the 2022-23 season. She faced several injuries along the way which has sidelined her game until this past season.
Head Coach Fabian McKenzie, having coached for 27 years at the U SPORTS level, has worked with and observed many student-athletes overcoming adversity but none with the courage and resilience of Kristen. "Her passion and love for the game of basketball is very high, and it hasn't waned during her journey. The mental and physical toll of one season ending injury is enough to push an athlete away from their sport," states McKenzie.
Kristen, however, has endured 3 season ending injuries in a row and hasn't lost her passion for playing. "I admire her resiliency to push through all of her injuries and to come back and lead our young team this year," shares McKenzie. "She has been a big piece on the court for us but off the court, Kristen has been one of the best leaders I have had the pleasure of coaching."
As the AUS nominee for the Tracy MacLeod Award, Kristen is in the running for U SPORTS recognition for her resilience, perseverance and determination.
Kristen, your CAPER family is very proud of you and wish you the very best as the AUS nominee.

Stefan is an important member of the team's leadership group and an excellent role model for the younger players on the team.
"We are thrilled that he can represent our program on the AUS 1st Team, and we are excited at the leader he has become for the team," shares Skinn.
Stefan, this recognition is well deserved and your CAPER family is very proud of you.
