David Solanke, a second-year long jumper with the Cape Breton University (CBU) CAPERS varsity Track & Field team, is the 7 by 7 Restaurant CBU male athlete of the week for the week ending February 23.
At the AUS track and field meet this weekend, David earned a bronze medal in the long jump with a distance of 6.40 m.
David also had a 5th place finish in the high jump with a height of 1.65 meters.

Favour Akachukwu, a second-year sprinter with the Cape Breton University (CBU) CAPERS varsity Track & Field team, is the 7 by 7 Restaurant CBU female athlete of the week for the week ending February 23.
At the AUS track & field championships, Favour placed 1st in the 60-metre sprint with a time of 7.89 seconds. Favour also placed 5th in the 300-metre sprint with a time of 42.23 seconds.
With her gold medal performance, Favour has earned a spot at the national U SPORTS track & field championship in Windsor, Ontario from March 5-8. The CBU community wishes you the best of luck, Favour!
