Shakael (Shak) Pryce – a fifth-year guard with the Cape Breton University (CBU) CAPERS varsity basketball team – is the 7 by 7 Restaurant CBU male athlete of the week for the week ending February 16.
Shak led the team in scoring in a 2-game match-up with the Dalhousie Tigers in Atlantic University Sport (AUS) action over the weekend.
Shak netted 15 points during the dominating 98-70 win over the Tigers on Friday, February 14th. He also added 7 assists, 1 steal and 5 rebounds to guide the CAPERS to the win.
The following night, Shak had an incredible game in a much closer match up with the Tigers which earned him the Subway Player of the Game. Shak scored 33 points along with 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 block. He was key in the final minutes of the game drawing fouls and sinking all of his free throws to lead the team to 79-77 win.
Shak continues to be in the top spot for assists in the AUS and first in U SPORTS for assists per game with 7.4. Shak is also 1st in the conference for steals and in the top 5 for points/ points per game, free throws and 3 pointers.
The CAPERS are on the road for their last game of the season at UPEI on Saturday, February 22. Game time is 8pm.

Name: Kiyara Letlow
University: Cape Breton University CAPERS
Sport: Women's Basketball
Position: Forward
Hometown: Toronto, Ontario
Year of eligibility: Fourth
Academic program: Bachelor of Arts in Community Studies
Kiyara Letlow – a fourth year forward with the Cape Breton University (CBU) CAPERS varsity basketball team, had back-to-back double-doubles in 2 home games against the Dalhousie Tigers in Atlantic University Sport (AUS) women's basketball action over the weekend. She is the 7 by 7 Restaurant CBU female athlete of the week for the week ending February 16.
In the match-up on Friday, February 14 at the Sullivan Fieldhouse, Kiyara led the CAPERS to a 70-62 win over the Tigers. She scored 23 points and added 18 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks.
In the re-match on Saturday, February 15, Kiyara scored 19 points and added 18 rebounds, for her second double-double of the week, in the 83-46 win over DAL.
Kiyara is 1st in U Sports for rebounds per game and 2nd in points per game. She leads the AUS in Points per game, rebounds per game, field goals, free throws, total points and total rebounds.
The CAPERS are on the road for their last game of the season at UPEI on Saturday, February 22. Game time is 8pm.
