MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Name: Tyson Cato
University: Cape Breton University CAPERS
Sport: Men's basketball
Position: Forward
Hometown: St. Catharines, Ontario
Year of eligibility: Fifth
Academic program: Master of Business Administration
Tyson Cato – a fifth-year forward with the Cape Breton University (CBU) CAPERS varsity basketball team, who scored 12 points, on 6-for-7 from the field, while adding five rebounds, one assist and one steal in a 70-68 win over the UPEI Panthers at Sullivan Fieldhouse on Nov. 22 – is the 7by7 Restaurant CBU male athlete of the week for the week ending Nov 24.
Cato, of St. Catharines, Ontario, is averaging 10.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game this season. He is shooting 47.5 and 75 per cent from the field and free-throw line, respectively.
The CAPERS (5-2) will return to the court this weekend with match-ups versus the Memorial Sea-Hawks on Friday, Nov. 29 at 8pm and Saturday, Nov. 30 at 4pm.

Name: Hailey MacLeod
University: Cape Breton University CAPERS
Sport: Women's Basketball
Position: Forward
Hometown: Marion Bridge, Cape Breton
Year of eligibility: Fifth
Academic program: Bachelor of Education
Hailey MacLeod – a fifth-year forward with the Cape Breton University (CBU) CAPERS varsity basketball team, who scored a game-high 30 points, while adding seven rebounds, three blocked shots, one assist and one steal in a 74-61 loss to the UPEI Panthers at Sullivan Fieldhouse on Nov. 22 – is the 7by7 Restaurant CBU female athlete of the week for the week ending Nov 24.
MacLeod, a native of Marion Bridge, Cape Breton, is averaging 12 points, 7.1 rebounds and two assists per game this season. She is tied for first in Atlantic University Sport (AUS) women's basketball with a 44.4 per cent average from beyond the arc.
The CAPERS (5-2) will return to the court this weekend with match-ups versus the Memorial Sea-Hawks on Friday, Nov. 29 at 6pm and Saturday, Nov. 30 at 2pm.
