CBU over Saint Mary's in AUS men's basketball action

Sydney, NS – The CBU CAPERS defeated the Saint Mary's Huskies 85-80 in AUS Men's Basketball action at the Sullivan Fieldhouse on Friday, February 7.

The CAPERS started the game on a 10-point run before the Huskies found the hoop. The two teams went back and forth, and the quarter ended at 25-20 in favour of CBU. The CAPERS held on to the lead to finish at the half 10 points ahead of the Huskies, 47-37. 

After a 16-point lead by the CAPERS, the Huskies turned up the heat to close the gap and were on the CAPERS' tail at the end of the third with a score of 67-63. The Huskies made their comeback in the fourth, pulling ahead of the CAPERS for the first time in the game. The nail-biting action ended with the CAPERS taking the win with a final score of 85-80.

Jasha'jaun Downey lead the scoring on both sides with 32 points. Eliel Nsoseme added 13 points and led the team in rebounds with 15. Tjark Lademacher added 11 points and 5 rebounds.

Shak Pryce, the Subway player of the game, led the CAPERS with 23 points, 13 assists and 7 rebounds. Tyso Cato helped secure the win with 18 points and 13 rebounds along with Stefan Anisko who added 12 points and 3 rebounds.

The Saint Mary's Huskies travel to Antigonish tomorrow to face the StFX X-Men. Tip-off is 8pm. 

The CBU CAPERS are back in action next weekend with a double header against the Dalhousie Tigers on February 14 and 15. Game time is 8pm.
