CBU 80 UPEI 70
Sydney, NS – It was the Credit Union on the Court Senior Night at the Sullivan Fieldhouse on Friday evening and the CAPERS were led by their two graduating players, Hannah Brown (North Sydney, NS) and Madison Munro (Truro, NS). The CAPERS defeated the UPEI Panthers 80-70 and clinched 1st place in the AUS standings. Brown had a monster game in the final home game of her career. Brown had 28 points and 12 rebounds. The 28 points were enough to break the CBU single-season scoring record previously held by Kelsey Hodgson. The 12 rebounds were enough to set new CBU and AUS single-season rebounding records. 5th-year player Munro had 14 points and 8 rebounds in the final home game of her career. The CAPERS also received a strong game from Monique Calliste (Toronto, ON) who had 18 points. The Panthers had four players strike double digits led by Jenna Mae Ellsworth with 26 points. Reese Baxendale, Karla Yepez and Jane McLaughlin also scored in double digits. The CAPERS needed to win the game by at least 7 points to clinch 1st place.
Turning point – The Panthers were able to get the game within 6 points with a minute left but Hannah Brown had a big rebound and putback that put the CAPERS up by 8. Calliste made a free throw at the end of the game to secure the victory by a wide enough margin.
