Short-staffed Capers fall to Huskies 69-65
They fought a hard battle for the full 40 minutes, but in the end a short-staffed Cape Breton University Capers women’s basketball team came out on the short end of a 69-65 decision to the Saint Mary’s Huskies at the Sullivan Fieldhouse Friday night.

Playing without out veteran all-stars Nicole Works and Vicki Thistle, the Capers shot just 37 per cent from the floor, including one of 16 from three-point range, and were unable to convert their chances down the stretch.

Fifth-year post Stephanie Toxopeus took home east Side Mario’s Player of the Game honours for the Capers, finishing with 17 points and eight boards in a losing cause.

Cassie Cooke finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for CBU which fell to 3-3 on the season.

Justine Colley led all scorers in the game with 33 points. The 2010-11 AUS all-star also had nine rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Huskies.

Samantha Martin chipped in with 13 points for the winners.
