Capers Athlete of the Week
The Cape Breton University CAPERS women’s basketball team posted a pair wins in their first home games of the season last weekend and no Caper stood taller than first-year guard Cassie Cooke.

The 5’8” guard from Westminster, MD, poured in 19 points to go with eight assists, five rebounds, a block and a steal in Friday’s 95-56 victory over the Dalhousie Tigers. In Saturday’s rematch, Cooke once again led the CAPERS offence, finishing with 21 points, four rebounds, four assists and a block as CBU posted an 85-77 win over the Tigers.

For the season, Cooke is averaging 18 points, four rebounds and four assists per game for the 2-1 CAPERS, who sit at No. 7 in the CIS Top 10 rankings.

Cooke,  a first-year student in the BBA program at CBU’s Shannon School of Business, was also named AUS Subway Female Athlete of the Week.

The CAPERS return to action this weekend when they travel to Fredericton for a pair of games with the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds.
