The National Champion, CBU Men's Soccer Program, is ready for another season of excellence. Finishing last season with an 11-0-1 record, the CAPERS are the defending U Sports and AUS Champions. Their performance earned them the 1st seed during the AUS Championships held at CBU, after which the CAPERS went on to win their first National title at the U Sports National Championships in Kamloops, B.C. This season's team is looking to get back to the National Championships and defend the title, winning their third consecutive AUS title.

Head Coach Deano Morley will be back behind the bench for his fifth year in charge of the CAPERS men's soccer team.  Morley earned his second AUS Championship as a head coach last season, bringing the CAPERS overall total to five AUS titles ('07, '09, '12, '16, and '17). Morley was also named the U Sports Coach of the Year for the first time and AUS coach of the year for the second time ('14, '17).

This year, Forward Danial Williams (Pierrefonds, QC) will join the high scoring CBU CAPERS as a new addition. Many of last year's championship players will be returning for another season, led by captain and fifth-year player Stuart Heath (Belfast, IE) and upperclassmen Peter Schaale (Bernkastel-Kues, DE), Cory Bent (Preston, UK) and Marcus Campanile (Edinburgh, UK). Local product, Jesse MacIntyre, (New Waterford, NS) will be back for his 4th season, and 2018 will also mark the return of former all-star Joel Eckert-Ayensa (Pulhaim, DE).

Head Coach Morley says, "Last year we achieved our ultimate goal by completing an undefeated season and capturing the Canadian National Championship. We are excited to begin the 2018 season, knowing we must work harder and match the discipline, accountability and team chemistry that propelled us to last year's success. We hope the whole community comes out to support us as we begin our season against our toughest rivals UNB on Saturday, September 8. We also look forward to hosting the AUS Championship for the second year in a row, November 2-4."

The CAPERS open their season hosting the UNB Reds on Saturday, September 8 at 3:15 p.m. The National Championship Trophy and Medals will be on display.
