CBU 82 ACA 56
Sydney, NS – The CAPERS won their 3rd game in a row, as they took care of the visiting Axemen 82-56 in convincing fashion. The CAPERS got off to a fantastic start pressuring Acadia into turnovers during the first quarter and jumped out to a 22-9 first quarter lead. The 2nd quarter was an evenly contested quarter with both teams playing solid defence and both teams putting up 15 points. The CAPERS took a 37-24 lead into the locker room. The CAPERS came out in the 3rd just as they did in the 1st with stifling defence that forced Acadia into a lot of turnovers highlighted by a Eugene Kankue (Ottawa, ON) dunk. The Axemen were led in scoring by Rowan Power with 9 pts. The leading scorer for the CAPERS was current AUS leading scorer Osman Omar (Mississauga, On) with 26 points.
Turning point – The CAPERS came out of the break and went on an extended run to put the game out of the reach in the 3rd quarter. A pair of steals by Eugene Kankue led to 4 quick points and put the CAPERS up by 20.
