CBU's CJ Bennett & the #MeetUpCleanUp Initiative

Sydney, NS – CAPERS men's basketball player C.J. Bennett is finding ways to give back to the community with his #MeetUpCleanUp initiative.

The initiative is designed to educate those on the effects litter has on the environment, building a sense of attachment and investment to their community. Bennett and his CBU classmates are challenging all varsity athletes to participate in the community cleanup, with prizes to be won when posting their pictures to social media using the hashtag #meetupcleanup.

More details on the initiative:

  • Follow @meetupcleanup2020 on Instagram.
  • Go out on your own time during the week of August 8-15, capturing the moments of your clean up (photos and videos).
  • Use the #meetupcleanup hashtag when posting or uploading pictures.
  • Follow COVID guidelines and continue to socially distance while collecting litter with friends.
  • USE PPE (gloves, masks, bags) when collecting litter.
  • Prizes are available to be won at random for participating.

Bennett just finished his 1st season with the CAPERS men's basketball program after transferring from the Humber Hawks for three seasons (2015-18), capturing the CCAA silver medal during his rookie season.
