SYDNEY — The Cape Breton University Capers baseball team is emerging as the squad to beat in the Canadian Intercollegiate Baseball Association’s Atlantic Conference following three victories in weekend play.
The Capers, who sit alone in first place in the Atlantic Conference with a record of 10-2, split a crucial series with the defending national champion University of New Brunswick Cougars on Saturday in Fredericton, followed by a two-game sweep of the St. Mary’s University Huskies at the Susan McEachern Memorial Ball Park in Sydney on Sunday.
